Among the sectors that will create billionaires in Africa, we can mention agriculture and agrifood, to name just those. As a result, any agricultural or agrifood start-up in Africa has the opportunity to take part in the training program launched by the German international development cooperation agency (GIZ).

GIZ - 2020 Call for Applications: What you need to know
This 2020 call for applications consists of investment-readiness preparation, with particular interest given to start-ups offering solutions to ease the economic impact of COVID-19 in the agriculture and agrifood sector in Africa. Known under the concept "Scaling Digital Agriculture Innovations through Start-ups" (SAIS), it recruits founders of start-up projects operating in at least one African country. However, the start-up must be made up of more than two people and must offer innovative solutions with a positive impact on income in the agriculture or agrifood sector. In addition, special consideration will be given to those helping to ease the economic impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis.
Start-ups selected at the end of this first phase will take part in a fully funded, nine-month investment-readiness program. It consists of weekly virtual advisory and coaching sessions. Participants will also get access to service providers, partnerships for greater visibility, and a demo day with investors.
According to Agence Ecofin, the goal of this program is to showcase the digital innovations developed by African start-ups, in order to help build their resilience and increase their income.
Applications are open until June 30, 2020. More information
